Making prototypes is always a fun (but painstaking) process. Sometimes I will make up to 10 prototypes of a product over a 1-2 year timeframe before the design is refined to a point where I am happy with it. I have to balance the importance of the piece being comfortable to wear, looking great, preferably having changing aspects or point(s) of interest, keep the end price of the piece as low as possible and most importantly minimise the waste of materials in the production process. This is my first attempt at an earring that has geometric saw-pierced detail that will be attached with a small hinge to an earring back. I hope to have this piece ready for production in 2016. Stay tuned!
